Who We Are
Children’s Advocacy Centers of Oklahoma (CACO) is the accredited state chapter supporting child advocacy centers (CACs) and Multidisciplinary Teams (MDTs) across Oklahoma. We provide training, technical assistance, and advocacy for CACs and multidisciplinary teams, but we are NOT a direct service provider. If you are looking for the nearest child advocacy center to access services, please review our directory page.
CACO was established in 1999 to provide collaborative and coordinated responses to victims of child abuse and neglect. It represents 21 nationally accredited CACs, 3 developing CACs, and multiple MDTs across Oklahoma. CACO staff also offers support to communities interested in establishing an accredited center.
Our Mission
It is CACO’s mission to unite and support child abuse professionals to protect Oklahoma’s children.
CACO partners with the University of Oklahoma – Tulsa Hope Research Center. Hope is the belief that the future will be better and you have the power to make it so. Hope is based on three main ideas: desirable goals, pathways to goal attainment, and agency (willpower) to pursue those pathways.
CACO facilitates pathways for Oklahoma CACs to become Hope Certified.
CACO attained Hope Certification in April of 2023 and initiated a statewide “CAC Hope Outcomes Pilot Project.” CLICK HERE to view the results of this innovative research initiative.
